PRP-therapy of joints

#метод

Joint plasmotherapy (PRP) is a modern treatment method that alleviates the patient's condition in many diseases, reduces the intensity of pain and restores mobility. This is a safe solution, because the biological material for the procedure is made from the patient's blood. It is well absorbed, is not rejected and almost never has side effects.

Mashtaler Ortho&Trauma Clinic provides treatment of joints with blood plasma for osteoarthritis, tendonitis, chronic inflammation and injuries. This innovative technique allows you to reduce inflammation and activate tissue regeneration without surgery.

What is PRP therapy and how does it affect the joints

PRP therapy for joints involves the use of a person's own blood plasma enriched with platelets (Platelet-Rich Plasma). During the procedure, blood is taken from a vein from the patient and treated by centrifugation. This allows the isolation of a plasma fraction with a high concentration of platelets containing a large number of growth factors that stimulate the repair of damaged tissues, improve blood circulation in the affected area and reduce inflammation.

The finished drug is injected into the joint. This provides effective treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system:

The introduction of plasma allows you to activate the internal reserves of the body and accelerate the recovery of tissues - without operations, aggressive medications and procedures associated with discomfort.

When is joint plasmotherapy necessary?

Our clinic uses PRP therapy in Lviv in the treatment of patients with the following symptoms:

The use of PRP is recommended in the presence of contraindications to operations. In addition, this method of regenerative medicine is used to facilitate rehabilitation after surgery.

Cases in which PRP therapy for joints is contraindicated

Although plasma therapy is considered one of the safest treatments in traumatology, it also has its contraindications. It is not used in the following conditions:

During pregnancy and lactation, the procedure is carried out according to individual indications, weighing the predicted result and possible side effects.

Advantages of the method of treatment of joints with blood plasma

  1. Using your own biological material means a very low risk of rejection or allergic reactions.
  2. High efficiency — the introduction of plasma into the knee joint often allows you to feel an improvement after the first session.
  3. The minimum of contraindications is due to the absence of steroids and potent drugs.
  4. The short duration of the procedure — plasma centrifugation and introduction into the joint cavity takes 15—20 minutes.
  5. Possibility of support — the course of treatment usually consists of several sessions that ensure a lasting result.
  6. Affordable price of PRP therapy — injections are cheaper than surgery and do not require prolonged abandonment of work.

How to properly prepare for the procedure

The most important thing is to consult a doctor. He will select an individual treatment program for the musculoskeletal system, informing you about the restrictions and measures to prepare for the procedures. Usually they include:

To make sure there are no contraindications, the doctor may prescribe a general blood test and a coagulogram.

How is the procedure for injecting plasma into the joint?

  1. The patient takes blood from a vein. A small amount is enough — about 15—20 ml.
  2. Blood is processed in a centrifuge, which allows you to isolate the necessary cells — platelets and growth factors.
  3. Plasma is injected into the joint under the control of an ultrasonic sensor. The duration of the procedure depends on the area in which the treatment is carried out. For example, PRP therapy of the knee joint usually lasts 4-5 minutes.

Immediately after the procedure, the patient can return to his usual lifestyle. If the treatment of a particular disease involves a restriction of movement, the doctor will definitely inform about it.

How many PRP sessions do you need for full effect?

The number of procedures depends on the diagnosis and condition of the joint. Usually, orthopedics prescribe a course of 3-5 injections with an interval of 7-10 days. Reduced pain and improved mobility are often noticeable after the first session. A long-lasting effect is formed within 2-3 months.
