BMAC therapy is a modern method of regenerative medicine that uses a patient's red bone marrow concentrate to treat joint, cartilage, ligament and tendon damage. Therapy does not use foreign drugs, only biological fractions of the organism itself.
The procedure is actively used in orthopedics to reduce pain, restore tissues and accelerate healing after injuries or chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
Injections of red bone marrow concentrate activate natural tissue regeneration mechanisms. The concentrate contains:
The main effect in the joint is immunomodulation, reduction of inflammation, improvement of microenvironment for regeneration. This reduces pain and improves mobility. Growth factors regulate healing, and platelets accelerate soft tissue repair. Thanks to this approach, there is not just relief of symptoms, but restoration of the function of the affected area.
BMAC is indicated for injuries, degenerative changes and the consequences of excessive stress, in particular:
The results are particularly noticeable in patients with preserved joint gap, moderate levels of degeneration and moderate pain.
IUAS therapy is not used in the following cases:
All patients are prescribed consultation with an orthopedist-traumatologist and basic diagnostics before the procedure.
Initially, under local anesthesia, aspiration of the bone marrow from the wing of the ilium is performed. The collection lasts 10-15 minutes. The resulting material is then centrifuged, releasing a concentrate of red bone marrow aspirate — a fraction enriched with active cells and factors.
The resulting suspension is injected into the affected area — under ultrasound control. This can be a joint, a place of attachment of tendons or an area of bone damage. The duration of the entire procedure is up to 1 hour. Hospitalization is not required.
After the procedure, the patient receives instructions on limiting the load, the allowed movements and the schedule of control intake.
Unlike symptomatic injections of hyaluronic acid or corticosteroids, BMAC (bone marrow aspirate concentrate) aims to trigger tissue repair. The main advantages are as follows:
In 2021-2024 studies, up to 80% of patients noted improvement in joint function and reduced pain 4—8 weeks after the procedure. Efficacy depends on the initial state of the tissue and the number of stem cells in the concentrate.
Mashtaler Ortho&Trauma is a specialized clinic of orthopedic solutions, where modern methods of treatment are used. The clinic was the first in Western Ukraine in the Western region of Ukraine to perform a meniscus and cartilage transplant operation. It actively implements innovative treatment technologies including this procedure.
Procedures are performed by qualified doctors with extensive experience. All manipulations are carried out under precise visual control using certified centrifugation systems.
This injection is a proven method for recovery from chronic orthopedic conditions and injuries. At Mashtaler Ortho&Trauma, this technique is based on international standards and is performed using approved protocols.
The cost of treatment depends on the number of injections and the need for additional procedures. It is determined by the type of pathology and the degree of joint damage. To clarify the price, make an appointment with the clinic by phone or using the form on the website.
